The Night Things

As a kid who had to transfer a lot from one school to another, we should’ve understand the anxiety endured of being ‘the new student’. Imagine if during these periods of trying to blend-in to your new surrounding, you also have a haunted mansion as your new home. Sound like adventure? Well, that’s what Courtney has to went through when his parents decided to move into her uncle’s old manor.

'Courtney Crumrin and the Night Things' is a comic story from a relatively newcomer, Ted Naifeh. The story revolved around the live of Courtney as she face her new schoolmates (some were very nasty) and the new housemates (which occasionally indifferently haunting). As a resourceful kid she is, she tackled both of these problems, by befriended with and taking advantage of something 'nasty' in the house.

Ted Naifeh, did both of the writing and the illustrating for this series. His illustration is a mix from Mike Mignola’s stark chiaroscuro and Chris Baccholo's cute-gothic style. As a new comer, his writing is surprisingly charming, perfectly in-synch narrating a supposedly horror story.
