According to Howard Gardner theory, there are multiple types of intelligences. Not only do all individuals possess numerous mental representations and intellectual languages, but individuals uniquely differ from one another in the forms of these representations, their relative strengths, and the ways in which (and ease with which) these representations can be changed.

Traditionaly, our education only reward two kinds of intelligences: verbal/linguistic and logical/mathematical, while there are at least six other kinds of intelligence that are equally important. We all use one or two for the most effective learning. Try to take a look of yours using this:

Verbal Linguistic (sensitive to the meaning and order of words as in a poet). Use activities that involve hearing, listening, impromptu or formal speaking, tongue twisters, humor, oral or silent reading, documentation, creative writing, spelling, journal, poetry.

Logical-mathematical (able to handle chains of reasoning and recognize patterns and orders as in a scientist). Use activities that involve abstract symbols/formulas, outlining, graphic organizers, numeric sequences, calculation, deciphering codes, problem solving.

Auditory-musical (To do with hearing pitch, melody, rhythm, and tone as in a composer) Those good with this tend to be better singers and have better pitch, in addition to liking music more. Music helps people in this category work better.

Visual-spatial (To do with vision and spatial judgement) People in this group are generally possessed of high hand-eye coordination, can interpret art well and can tessellate objects easily. Such people might work as artists, artisans and engineers.

Bodily Kinesthetic (To do with muscular coordination, movement and doing, as in an athlete or dancer). Use activities that involve role playing, physical gestures, drama, inventing, ball passing, sports games, physical exercise, body language, dancing.

Interpersonal (To do with interaction with othersas in a salesman or teacher) People categorized here are usually extroverts, and good with people. They can be charismatic and convincing and diplomatic. They tend to learn better when involving discussions.

Intrapersonal (To do with possessing access to emotional life as a means to understanding oneself). People categorized here are most often introverts and have very complex philosophies. These people often end up in religion or psychology and like to be alone.

Naturalist (To do with nature connected to the intricacies and subtleties in nature such as Charles Darwin). People in this category are not only good with life but also with the various functions of it and mechanisms behind it. Indeed many people here claim to sense life force and energy. In this area, people generally end up in biology or environmentalism.

Intelligences are not so much about talents, but look at it as the inner working of one mind. Other type intelligences have been suggested by popular psychology writers such as ‘spiritual intelligence’. There at least 53 possibility of identifiable senses. Gardner himself has entertained the notion of ‘existential intelligence’—which he sees as less fraught with theological baggage than ‘spiritual intelligence’—but remains uncommitted to it. Additional intelligences such as cooking intelligence, humor intelligence and football intelligence have been proposed, but they have not been isolated in experimental studies.
